Q&A with Eric
What has made the biggest impact for you on transitioning from school to the workforce?
My biggest impact from transitioning to the workforce was being part of Ralston High School’s Automotive Club and classes. These classes and teachers taught me a lot before joining the workforce, including hands-on work essential in this field.
Additionally, I’m a student of Avenue Scholars which helped me with everything from learning how to get a job and applying, to learning how to interview.
Being a part of both these programs has helped prepare me for the workforce.
Is there a person or a moment at work that has had a positive impact on you?
At work, there are many things that can be considered positive, from the first time you learn to do something on your own or finally achieving something you’ve been struggling with.
Gaining the trust of my mentor and being able to work on stuff on my own has been a big achievement for me.
What’s something fun you’ll be doing this summer?
This summer I plan on taking some trips, camping, and continue working on my classes through Metro Community College and continuing to grow in my role with H+H.
Q&A with Vicente
Briefly explain how you learned about H+H? What led you to pursue a job there?
I learned about H+H through my auto teacher at Ralston High School. Before starting my senior year, he wanted me to join an internship to expand my skills. He heard many good things about the H+H internship program and quickly got me connected with them.
What new skills have you obtained during your internship/job?
I have learned a lot compared to my knowledge before this internship. I now know how to replace engines and transmissions and more difficult things.
What’s something fun you’ll be doing this summer?
I don’t have much planned this summer, but I plan on working on my truck and hanging out with friends.
